A Georgian  travelling sun dial and compass encased in a wooden circular box.

The compass card with sixteen points, complete with daylight hours in Roman numerals printed on paper by engraving on copper plate and a small gnomon at the centre. It is mounted inside the concave protective  glass dome. Orienting the compass towards the north the gnomon casts a shadow on the hour scale.

The label inside the lid has the months of the year with either slow or faster and dates with an instruction in the centre "Fast means that the clock should be faster than the dial, slow, slower".
