An unusual 18th century spice box, illustratrated in Pinto, the top unscrews to reveal divisions for spices, the lid in turn screws up tight to keep the spices airtight.

Good colour and patina.

Spices were expensive in the 18th century and needed to be kept airtight for preservation.
