An early 1800s picture alphabet set. These alphabet cards were used by children to learn the alphabet. This set comprises of 26 double-sided alphabet cards, 15 of which have a picture on one side and an alphabet letter on the other side, another three are replacement cards with a picture and a letter and the remaining eight have an upper case letter on one side and a lower case letter on the other side. There are also five cards with groups of letters and numbers on.
The pictures are lovely for example Y is for youth an an image of a young person or I for inkstand with an image of a quill in an ink pot.
The pot measures 7cm h x 6.5cm w.
