A very unusual snuff box in the shape of an early 1800s sarcophagus tea caddy,
Made from mahogany with a small metal shield to the lid, It has an ebony inlaid escutcheon decoration to the front and inlaid ebony hinge decoration to the back. It opens by pushing the base.
It must have been made for a tea lover......and a snuff taker.
