A 19th century sycamore apothecary or chemist jar with a well fitted lid. It has black lettering on the front 'Gum Kino'. Gum Kinos were used in medicines as dyes, tanning agents and as an astringent.Kino gum is a dark red resin obtained from various tropical plants. The interior shows traces of the reddish brown colour.
