Late 1800's campaign Brighton Bun candlesticks, an essential travel item for the military, explorer and treveller. They were compact and portable. These candlestickss include the candle snuffers, which are often lost. They have a lovely mellow colour.
The base measures 12cm w.
They consist of two drip pan bases which screw together to form a circular bun. When unscrewed the base divides into two halves revealing two candle cups and two candle snuffers. When upturned the two drip pans form the bases of two chamber candles and the cups slip into the bases to form two chamber sticks.
They were also used by pilgrims visiting the Holy Land.
They were also known as portable candlesticks by the military.
