This is a 19th century boxwood humming top with a launcher probably not the original. It has inscribed on the outside in ink G Gordon and may well have belonged to General Gordon of Khartoum.
It was purchased in the 1960s from the Gordons home in Cheltenham from a relative.
It measures 9.5cm h.
